A really great place to learn languages … well organised, interesting and fun. Vicky our Italian teacher has a great passion for languages and the classes are always very enjoyable. I’ve also been doing a few conversational French classes to up my game for holidays !Posted on Google Ben DavisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent school. Professional, friendly and enjoyable place to learn.Posted on Google Helen JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Before I joined a class, my level was assessed (I wasn't a total beginner and had been doing Duolingo!) and I was recommended a course at the appropriate level. Classes are enjoyable and informal. I wanted to learn to speak Italian and to make myself understood in Italy but I didn't want to be assessed for a formal qualification. This is ideal for me!Posted on Google Janet HillTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Vicky's Italian classes are a content-packed, entertaining and lively blend of all aspects of learning Italian - reading, listening, conversation, discussion, culture, and, of course grammar and vocabulary - using diverse methods of teaching including games, quizzes, videos, films, exercises and role play.Posted on Google Rebecca MosleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My Italian class has quickly turned into the highlight of my week! I have really enjoyed the challenge of learning again and the classes are so fun and well structured. The class size is big enough for practice and interaction between the students, and small enough that I feel confident asking questions. Outside of class we have a WhatsApp group to share ideas and help each other. On my recent trip to Milan I had the confidence to speak in Italian and make myself understood after just two terms of tuition. I could not recommend highly enough!Posted on Google Diana BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been learning Italian for the past few years from no knowledge at all other than a few ski holidays in Italy. I have thoroughly enjoyed my group lessons with Vicky. She makes the learning fun, with games and videos and, yes, some essential grammar too. In addition we have had cinema mornings, an Italian food demo, videos and extra classes during the holidays for mixed groups. Whilst in lockdown all our classes were online. The school in Honley has several classrooms of varying sizes to accommodate all types of class. All the staff are very friendly and professional. A real find!Posted on Google R DTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Learning Italian at MLS is a very enjoyable experience and i always leave the lesson with a smile. The school also has a warm and lovely ambience. You learn not only the language but the culture and history of the country but also a little about yourself in the process. The lessons are varied , interesting and delivered in a variety of formats , types of learning and at the right tempo in a group and also individually. I have also made some new friends in the process of learning a beautiful language.

Meet The Teacher
Vicky Addy
Ciao Mi chiamo Vicky Addy. I am an enthusiastic, experienced, and qualified Italian language teacher (BA Hons 2:1, PGCE) with a passion for teaching Italian and all things Italian! My Italian classes are fun and interactive as well as being of the highest standard, focusing on the individual learning needs of my students.
My years of experience have taught me how to get the best out of my students whilst providing a relaxed and fun learning environment. I work hard to support all my students in their learning, to help them progress and achieve success in speaking Italian. In class we tend to focus on speaking and listening and the tools needed to achieve these skills, thereby enabling our students to get the most out of their Italian holiday.
As well as being passionate about Italian, I enjoy spending time in Italy with my Italian friends, reading, walking (with my two crazy Spingers) and family holidays in our touring caravan.
Nina Roberts
Ciao, mi chiamo Nina, originally from Southwest Germany, where I grew up. I have a degree in Education with Psychology and English from the Technical University in Darmstadt. I have been in the UK for over 15 years and have taught Italian & French alongside German. I simply love the Italian language, culture and history which makes it a pleasure to teach and share this passion.
When I arrived in the UK in 2006 I first worked as a German FLA (Foreign Language Assistant) in two schools in Doncaster and subsequently qualified to teach in secondary schools in 2008. I now work as a self-employed languages tutor to enable me to spend more time with my family. I joined the Modern Language School in autumn 2013 and really enjoy teaching and learning here.
As well as spending time with my family I enjoy reading, music and hiking. of the classroom in the student’s role.
Melodie Golton
Ciao! My name is Melodie Golton and I teach Italian, alongside French, at the Modern Language School.
I love teaching la bella lingua that is Italian – it’s a language that is beautiful to listen to, fun to speak and rich in history. For me, language and culture are inseparable and so as well as learning the language, you can expect to enjoy delving into the la dolce vita/how Italians live, Italian history and, of course, discussing the joy that is Italian food and drink in my classes.
I have taught modern languages for the last 8 years, having studied French and German for my Bachelor’s (learning Italian as well) and gaining a distinction at Master’s in Language Education. I understand how daunting language learning can be. I wrote my Master’s thesis on speaking anxiety when speaking French and so endeavour to make classes as fun, accessible and interesting as possible so you can feel at ease and ready to learn. I’ve taught students between the ages of 4 and 85 of a variety of different nationalities and would love to welcome you to my class and help you discover the joys of the Italian language and culture!
