A really great place to learn languages … well organised, interesting and fun. Vicky our Italian teacher has a great passion for languages and the classes are always very enjoyable. I’ve also been doing a few conversational French classes to up my game for holidays !Posted on Google Ben DavisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent school. Professional, friendly and enjoyable place to learn.Posted on Google Helen JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Before I joined a class, my level was assessed (I wasn't a total beginner and had been doing Duolingo!) and I was recommended a course at the appropriate level. Classes are enjoyable and informal. I wanted to learn to speak Italian and to make myself understood in Italy but I didn't want to be assessed for a formal qualification. This is ideal for me!Posted on Google Janet HillTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Vicky's Italian classes are a content-packed, entertaining and lively blend of all aspects of learning Italian - reading, listening, conversation, discussion, culture, and, of course grammar and vocabulary - using diverse methods of teaching including games, quizzes, videos, films, exercises and role play.Posted on Google Rebecca MosleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My Italian class has quickly turned into the highlight of my week! I have really enjoyed the challenge of learning again and the classes are so fun and well structured. The class size is big enough for practice and interaction between the students, and small enough that I feel confident asking questions. Outside of class we have a WhatsApp group to share ideas and help each other. On my recent trip to Milan I had the confidence to speak in Italian and make myself understood after just two terms of tuition. I could not recommend highly enough!Posted on Google Diana BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been learning Italian for the past few years from no knowledge at all other than a few ski holidays in Italy. I have thoroughly enjoyed my group lessons with Vicky. She makes the learning fun, with games and videos and, yes, some essential grammar too. In addition we have had cinema mornings, an Italian food demo, videos and extra classes during the holidays for mixed groups. Whilst in lockdown all our classes were online. The school in Honley has several classrooms of varying sizes to accommodate all types of class. All the staff are very friendly and professional. A real find!Posted on Google R DTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Learning Italian at MLS is a very enjoyable experience and i always leave the lesson with a smile. The school also has a warm and lovely ambience. You learn not only the language but the culture and history of the country but also a little about yourself in the process. The lessons are varied , interesting and delivered in a variety of formats , types of learning and at the right tempo in a group and also individually. I have also made some new friends in the process of learning a beautiful language.

Meet The Teacher
Nina Roberts
Guten Tag! Ich heiße Nina Roberts und komme aus Deutschland. Hello! My name is Nina Roberts and I come from Germany.
I love teaching German here at the Modern Language School. Since coming to the UK in 2006 as a Foreign Language Assistant I have gained a Qualified Teacher Status and a wealth of teaching experience. I can cater for all age groups and levels, including exam preparation, and have had experience teaching children as young as four as well as adults. I joined the Modern Language School in autumn 2013 and really enjoy teaching and learning here. I am enthusiastic about languages in general and will help you build your German language skills by drawing on your previous knowledge or by introducing the language from scratch in an engaging and fun way.
As well as spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, music and hiking. I am also learning Italian with Vicky. This is great fun and a useful reminder of what it is like to sit on the other side of the classroom in the student’s role.
Tina Roussou
My name is Tina Roussou. I am originally from Greece and have been living in England for the last 12 years.
I hold a degree in ‘English Language with German’ (BA hons 2:1) and an academic qualification (PGCE) in teaching modern foreign languages from the University of Huddersfield.
I have several years teaching experience working as a secondary school language teacher, teaching German, Spanish, Italian and Greek. For the last 2 years I have been a private tutor in Philosophy, Greek and Spanish.
I love my work because teaching has the power to enrich people’s lives. Teaching foreign languages provides me with an opportunity to introduce people to the cultural aspects behind the language and share the knowledge base about other cultures. It also gives me a chance to meet great students who share my passion for people, culture, and communication.
My German classes are fun and interactive as well as being of the highest standard focusing on the individual learning needs of my students. Why not come and find out for yourself.
