Advanced French Classes in Huddersfield
Still interested in French after years of learning? Join other experienced adults in Honley to keep your French active, expressive and enjoyable.
There's more to French than getting by
You may already follow a French conversation, read an article with reasonable ease or enjoy visits to France. Yet speaking spontaneously, finding the right tone and catching every nuance can still feel like a work in progress. That’s exactly why continuing lessons can be worthwhile.
The Modern Language School offers higher-level French classes from its Honley premises near Huddersfield. The current published course structure includes a combined Inter Plus / Advanced class with Nina Roberts and an Advanced Plus class with Melodie Golton. These are different groups, so choosing the right one matters.
Whether you’re renewing a longstanding interest or looking for a regular place to stretch yourself, there’s plenty of French left to discover.
Work with the finer points of French
Higher-level learning is about making fuller use of what you already know, not simply racing through more vocabulary.
Express a more complex idea
Practise building an argument, making a comparison or explaining an experience without reducing everything to a short answer.
Notice what changes the meaning
Explore the choices of tense, word order and phrasing that help you sound more precise and confident.
Follow a wider range of French
Challenge your listening and reading with ideas that demand closer attention to context, register and detail.
Keep the language connected to real life
French offers an enormous variety of things to talk about: culture, cinema, news, food, travel or the ordinary stories people share with each other. Having a reason to use the language regularly can help you stay engaged long after the beginner stage.
Both of the school’s higher-level teachers bring personal experience of learning and teaching languages. Melodie has lived and worked in France, while Nina grew up close to the French border and has spent many years teaching French. That first-hand knowledge helps keep lessons grounded in more than the textbook.
CHECK THE RIGHT LEVEL BEFORE ENROLLING
French Advanced and Advanced Plus: choosing a group
The school lists French Inter Plus / Advanced, taught by Nina Roberts, and French Advanced Plus, taught by Melodie Golton. Rather than assuming either label describes exactly the same ability everywhere, we recommend checking the school’s own self-assessment questionnaire and talking through your experience with the team.
You’ll find the full range of French groups, current dates and fees on the French course page. This page concentrates specifically on the options for more experienced learners.
